Christmas often turns our attention to the manger—but John invites us to look further back. Before Bethlehem, before creation, before time itself… Jesus already was. John doesn’t begin with shepherds or angels. He begins by lifting our eyes to the eternal Christ—the Word—who has always been with God and has always been God. The baby we celebrate at Christmas didn’t begin in a manger. He stepped into our story from eternity.
