Buried to Rise
ABOUT THIS MESSAGe
He is risen! In John 12:20-26, some Greeks who had come to Jerusalem for the Passover festival express a desire to see Jesus. They approach Philip, who tells Andrew, and together they bring the request to Jesus. Instead of addressing the request directly, Jesus responds by speaking about His upcoming death. He says that the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified, and uses the image of a grain of wheat that must fall to the ground and die to produce much fruit—symbolizing His own death and the life it will bring to others. He teaches that those who love their life will lose it, but those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Finally, Jesus calls His followers to serve and follow Him, promising that those who do will be honored by the Father.
